Applying Epoxol Putty - Instructions for Epoxy Putty, Joint Sealer, and Crack Sealer

Substrate Preparation:

  • Make sure the surface is stable, clean, dry, and free of rising moisture, dust, oil, grease, dirt, and loose materials.
  • Depending on the surface, you might need to prepare it mechanically to smooth irregularities and ensure good adhesion. Sanding can help on glossy surfaces.
  • For surfaces that need extra cleaning, consider using solvent (Neotex 1021) if necessary.
    Priming:
  • To improve adhesion of the epoxy putty (Epoxol Putty) and stabilize the surface, apply solvent-free epoxy primer (like Epoxol Primer) or another suitable primer based on your surface type.
  • For very porous surfaces, you might need an extra coat of primer.

Application:

  1. Take the required amount of epoxy putty components separately using different tools.
  2. Mix the two components thoroughly in the recommended ratio using a suitable hand tool until the mixture is uniform.
  3. Spread the mixed putty onto the application surface using a trowel or construction spatula, ensuring it fills gaps and adheres well.
  4. The standard mixing ratio for general repairs and bonding is 1 part A to 1 part B (by weight). Small deviations won't significantly affect the result.
A mixing ratio of 2 parts A to 1 part B (hard version) creates a sturdy epoxy paste suitable for anchoring, floor repairs, and electrical applications.
  5. A mixing ratio of 1 part A to 2-2.5 parts B (elastic version) results in a flexible epoxy paste for sealing joints and gaps prone to expansion and contraction. Note that this version shouldn't be coated with other hard resin systems or coatings.

Special Notes:

  • Don't apply Epoxol Putty in wet conditions or when moisture is expected during application or curing.
  • Avoid continuous UV exposure, as it may cause chalking over time.
  • If you store the product at low temperatures and it becomes very viscous, it's a good idea to warm it up before using to restore its normal consistency.
